From New Delhi, India and based out of Boston, MA - Sahil Warsi is an Acoustic Bassist and Jazz Composer and arranger. He graduated from the Berklee College of Music in 2016 - with a degree in Jazz Composition and, he performs regularly in Boston - with various ensembles and orchestras - both jazz and classical.
in Boston, Sahil hosts the Friday night jam sessions at Wally's Jazz Cafe' - a historical jazz venue - est. 1947.
He is currently the Principal Bassist of the Boston Conservatory - Berklee Orchestra - and is also on the Bass Section of the Boston Civic Symphony. Prior to this, Sahil was the Principal Bassist of the Berklee Contemporary Symphony Orchestra; and the Terence Blanchard Jazz Composition Orchestra;
Prior to coming to Boston, Sahil was an active musician on the Indian jazz circuit – and was seen as the young face of the Acoustic Bass in Delhi; With over 350 performances at different venues, in different cities, under his belt - Sahil had given the Acoustic Bass a firm founding in a city that had not seen the instrument in well over 50 years.
He has also been on the bass section for the Longwood Symphony; The Harvard Summer School Orchestra; The Cambridge Symphony Orchestra; The Metrowest Symphony Orchestra, and the Neopolitan Orchestra.
At Berklee, Sahil continues to be a regular bass player for various recitals, film scoring sessions and project bands. He has played recording sessions for various student composers - as well as prominent industry figures such as Patrick Doyle (music director/composer for the Harry Potter films).
He has studied under various teachers including Susan Hagen (BSO/BSO pops), Ron Mahdi & Bruce Gertz - and has been a part of ensembles under the directorship of Neal Smith (Cyrus Chestnut), Lin Biviano (Buddy Rich), Jackson Schultz, John Pierce & Jon Hazilla.
